Broadcast Journalism
I didn't join Podcasting until my senior year, and I regret not signing up for the class my junior year. My friends, Andrea Lepley and Juliana Mora, created their podcast last year. After watching them struggle for weeks to come up with a name, I asked them if they liked "Get a Load of These Girls." After a little convincing and some tweaking, they decided to go with "Get a Load of This..." The name has stuck with us all ever since, and now I'm a part of the podcast with them. With podcasting being a part of our curriculum for only its second year, there's still a lot of twists and turns that Juliana, Andrea and I have learned to work through together.
The Basics
At the start of each week, we get together as a group to choose a topic for our next episode. The criteria we're given is that our topic has to be relevant and every episode has to be at least five minutes long. Creating show notes and bullet pointing our brainstorms help us stay organized and keep us on track. Below is a short break down of our episode "Get a Load of What We Would Say to Our Future Children."
Creating a title before we begin each episode gives us the base for when we press record.
Making our show notes prior to recording prevents us from veering off from our topic.
To keep everything organized, we utilize the tabs in Google Docs. We like to keep our title and show notes separate from our brainstorm.

Our Brainstorm
Sometimes we discuss what we write down, sometimes we don't. The best thing about our podcast, in my opinion, is that it doesn't follow a specific script. We go with the flow of conversation. That is what makes our podcast so special to me.
